A Calla Lily Barn Wedding at Riverside on the Potomac, Leesburg
THE PALETTE
Julizza and Yelsy married on the last Friday in September at Riverside on the Potomac, eighty acres of Loudoun County farmland with a pond, a hayfield, and the largest restored stone-and-timber bank barn in the county. The ceremony was outside: white chairs down a petal-strewn aisle, and at the end of it a wooden cross dressed with a spray of white blooms and greenery, the water and the treeline behind.
The calla lily was the through-line. It was drawn into their monogram, so we ran it through everything — her bouquet a gathered handful of white callas with amaranthus trailing almost to the hem, the bridesmaids each carrying a single long-stemmed calla finished with ribbon, and a tall arrangement of them standing beside the welcome sign at the barn door.
Inside, the barn did the rest of the work once the light dropped. Lanterns and strung bulbs came down through the timber frame, greenery ran along the beams, and the tables were set with callas standing in glass cylinders among floating candles. The sweetheart table got a runner of white and green laid the length of it against the old boards, and the card table anchored the room with the largest arrangements of the night.
“Celenia went above and beyond for our wedding. She transformed our barn venue into something straight out of a fairytale - lush, enchanting, and luxurious.”
